Jackson Elks to host rare summer bingo for charity – Buckrail, Jackson Hole News

JACKSON HOLE, WYO – Elks Lodge bingo in the fall and winter is practically a rite of passage in Jackson. In summer, though, with everyone busy chasing down outdoor activities, bingo takes a hiatus.

Until now. The Jackson Elks announced they will host a rare summer bingo night at the Elks Lodge this month.

“Bingo night in the fall and winter are some of our most popular community events,” says Jackson Elks secretary and WEST Bingo Benefit organizer Fernando Escobedo. “I figured we could host bingo night before summer gets into full swing and have it go towards a great cause.”

Bingo at the Elks consists of several games played on a bingo packet purchased for just $17. There are bonus games available as well that cost between two and ten dollars. With a short intermission, a typical bingo night usually lasts about two hours.

Bingo players must be 18 years or older to play, and the Elks only accept cash or local check. An ATM is available at the Lodge, with the ATM fees also going towards charity.

“We love opening up our Lodge to the community for events like this,” states Lisa Sprague, Jackson Elks Lodge Exalted Ruler. “WEST is a charity we strongly support because the money stays in Wyoming, helping Wyoming children.”

WEST was founded in 1989 and is a self-sustaining charity in that the principal is never spent; only the interest accrued goes towards programs such as Needy Youth and Elks Scholarships for Wyoming children. In this way, WEST can continue to help Wyoming children in perpetuity.

Bingo night at the Elks Lodge is Wednesday, June 27. Doors will open at 6:15pm, bingo starts at 7:00pm. In addition to bingo, there will be tacos and other food for sale. All proceeds from bingo and food sales will go towards the Wyoming Elks State Trust (WEST) charity.
